              Examination of Semester-II for B.Sc.(Hons.) contains of Two core papers namely Core-III and Core-IV , One Generic Elective-II (GE-II) (either physics or chemistry, depends on your choice) paper and One Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course-II (AECC-II) (Environmental Studies) paper. The syllabus for the same is as follows :

Syllabus for EVS AECC-II of SKMU for B.Sc. Hons.-

Unit 1 : Introduction to environmental studies • Multidisciplinary nature of environmental studies; • Scope and importance; Concept of sustainability and sustainable development.
Unit 2 : Ecosystems • What is an ecosystem? Structure and function of ecosystem; Energy flow in an ecosystem: food chains, food webs and ecological succession. Case studies of the following ecosystems : a) Forest ecosystem b) Grassland ecosystem c) Desert ecosystem d) Aquatic ecosystems (ponds, streams, lakes, rivers, oceans, estuaries) 
Unit 3 : Natural Resources : Renewable and Non-renewable Resources • Land resources and landuse change; Land degradation, soil erosion and desertification. • Deforestation: Causes and impacts due to mining, dam building on environment, forests, biodiversity and tribal populations. • Water : Use and over-exploitation of surface and ground water, floods, droughts, conflicts over water (international & inter-state). • Energy resources : Renewable and non renewable energy sources, use of alternate energy sources, growing energy needs, case studies. 
Unit 4 : Biodiversity and Conservation • Levels of biological diversity : genetic, species and ecosystem diversity; Biogeographic zones of India; Biodiversity patterns and global biodiversity hot spots • India as a mega-biodiversity nation; Endangered and endemic species of India • Threats to biodiversity : Habitat loss, poaching of wildlife, man-wildlife conflicts, biological invasions; Conservation of biodiversity : In-situ and Ex-situ conservation of biodiversity. • Ecosystem and biodiversity services: Ecological, economic, social, ethical, aesthetic and Informational value.
Unit 5 : Environmental Pollution • Environmental pollution : types, causes, effects and controls; Air, water, soil and noise pollution • Nuclear hazards and human health risks • Solid waste management : Control measures of urban and industrial waste. • Pollution case studies. 
Unit 6 : Environmental Policies & Practices • Climate change, global warming, ozone layer depletion, acid rain and impacts on human communities and agriculture 2/2 • Environment Laws: Environment Protection Act; Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act; Water (Prevention and control of Pollution) Act; Wildlife Protection Act; Forest Conservation Act. International agreements: Montreal and Kyoto protocols and Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). • Nature reserves, tribal populations and rights, and human wildlife conflicts in Indian context. 

Unit 7 : Human Communities and the Environment • Human population growth: Impacts on environment, human health and welfare. • Resettlement and rehabilitation of project affected persons; case studies. • Disaster management : floods, earthquake, cyclones and landslides. • Environmental movements : Chipko, Silent valley, Bishnois of Rajasthan. • Environmental ethics: Role of Indian and other religions and cultures in environmental conservation. • Environmental communication and public awareness, case studies (e.g., CNG vehicles in Delhi).

               The Question paper of Environmental Studies (EVS) Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC-II) paper of B.Sc. (Hons.) contains total of 40 marks. About 89 english medium Govt. Model schools in Jharkhand state

 About 89 english medium Govt. Model schools  in Jharkhand state:-


There are total of 89 Model Schools established in 89 different blocks of Jharkhand state by the State Govt. under a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) with a provision to provide free education in english medium to the students belonging to the financially backward families of Jharkhand state. These schools were established in the year 2011 to 2012.

Special Features and Facilities in these Schools:-

 Free education in english medium.
→ Classes available from 6th to 12th.
→ Follow state board i.e, Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi.
→ Non-residential.
→ Admission is opened only once in a year and done through an entrance exam.
→ No. of teaching staff : 3-4 per school (tentative).

Admission Process:-

Admissions in these schools are done through the entrance exam conducted by JAC, Ranchi, once in a year. Every year , total of 40 students (including all categories such as GEN, OBC, SC, ST etc.) get selected for the admissions in each model school, who hold top ranks in the merit list prepared on the basis of the scores in the entrance exam. 
After the publishment of the merit list, admission process starts within 10-15 days.
All the selected students need to visit to the Model schools of their blocks and to meet all the required steps for confirming their admissions.

Eligibility :-
 Applicant must have passed the annual exam of class 5th from any certified school of Jharkhand state.
→ Age of the applicant must be between 10-12 years on the first day of April month
of that academic year. (Birth certificate is needed to attach while form filling)
→ For availing the benefit of reservation one must submit the cast certificate issued by the competent authority. Applicants belonging to the general category are not needed to submit the caste certificate.


Documents to be submitted while filling form:-


  • Caste Certificate
  • Birth Certificate issued under the registration act 1969.
  • Residential Certificate
  • Aadhar Card
  • Bonafied Certificate from the school studying currently
  • Marksheet of the annual exam of 5th class.
Demand of certificates may change as the rules and conditions change.

Application starting date :- Feb- March
Exam date :- April
Issue date of Admit Card :- One to two week before the exam 
Result announcement :- May
Admission start :-  May

Exam pattern :- 

There will be 100 multiple type questions of english(30), mathematics(30) and social science and general knowledge(40). Difficulty level of the questions will be of upto 6th standard. Questions will be of moderate difficulty level.

The syllabus for the same is as follows :

Syllabus for Physics GE-II of SKMU for B.Sc. Hons.-

Vector Analysis :- Scalar and Vector Product; Gradient, Divergence, Curl and their Significance; Vector Integration; Line, Surface and Volume Integrals of Vector fields; Gauss-divergence theorem and Stoke's theorem of Vectors.
 
Electrostatics :- Electrostatic Field, Electric Flux, Gauss's theorem of elctrostatics; Applications of Gauss's theorem- Electric field due to point charge, infinite line of charge, uniformly charged spherical shell and solid sphere, plane charged sheet, charged conductor; Electric potential as line integral of electric field; Electirc potential due to a point charge, electric dipole, uniformly charged spherical shell and solid shpere; Calculation of electric field from potential; Capacitance of an isolated spherical conductor, Parallel Plate, spherical and cylindrical condenser; Energy per unit volume in electrostatic field; Dielectric medium; Polarisation; Displacement vector; Gauss's theorem in dielectrics; Parallel plate capacitor completely filled with Dielectrics.

Magnetism :- Magnetostatics: Biot-Savart's Law and its applications- straight conductor, circular coil, solenoid carrying current; Divergence and Curl of Magnetic field; Magnetic vector potential; Ampere's circuital Law, Magnetic Properties of Materials: Magnetic Intensity, Magnetic Induction, Permeability, Magnetic Susceptibilty; Brief introduction of dia-, para- and ferro- magnetic materials. 

Electromagnetic Induction :- Faraday's Laws of electromagnetic induction; Lenz's law; Self and Mutual Inductance; L of single coil, M of two coils. Energy stored in magnetic field. 

Maxwell's equations and Electromagnetic wave propagation :- Equation of continuity of current; Displacement current; Maxwell's equations; Poynting vector; Energy density in Electromagnetic field; Electromagnetic wave propagation through vacuum and isotropic dielectric medium; transverse nature of EM waves.

               The Question paper of Physics Generic Elective (GE-II) paper of B.Sc. (Hons.) contains total of 60 marks. It has total of 11 discriptive type questions each of 12 marks, out of which one need to answer any five questions. The question paper is not so difficult. Mathematics hons. contains of Two core papers namely Core-III (Differential Calculus and Two Dimensional  Geometry) and Core-IV (Integral Calculus and Three Dimensional  Geometry), One Generic Elective-II (GE-II) (either physics or chemistry, depends on your choice) paper and One Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course-II (AECC-II) (Environmental Studies) paper.            Core-IV paper of B.Sc. (Mathematics Hons.) contains two subjects viz. Integral Calculus and Three Dimensional Geometry. The syllabus for the same is as follows:

Integral Calculus :- Indefinite Integral, Definite Integral, Reduction Formula, Area ( Both Cartesian and Polar curve ).

Three dimensional Geometry :- Direction Cosine and Direction ratio, Straight line, Plane, Shortcut distance between two skew Straight lines and related problem.

               The Question paper of Core-III contains two section namely Section-1 and Section-2. Section-1 contains 8(eight) Objective type questions (MCQs) each carrying 2 marks making this section total of 16 marks. Section-2 is further divided into two units namely Unit-I and Unit-II, in which Unit-I contains 4(four) questions from Integral Calculus and Unit-II contains 4(four) questions from Three Dimensional Geometry, out of which one need to answer total of four questions, selecting at least one from each Unit. Each question of Unit-I & II carries 16 marks and contains two sub questions (a) and (b), each of 8 marks. This is how Section-II contains total of 64 marks.
